Just curious to what you guys thought of the instant messaging programs. ICQ has in my opinion been a great program but AIM is coming up with some new features that are really improving it. Also one thing I like about AIM is that it doesnt have like a bunch of features that nobody uses. It has everything I need. Curious to see what you guys thougth was better. Of course I use both neotope for AIM, 15475654 for ICQ.

My nick is engman if you haven't guessed yet, feel free to tell me how much you want my sexy body ^_^

I use both, but AIM is more convenient, I must say. ICQ is nicer for file transfers, etc. I don't use more than half of ICQ's features, though.

I don't use either, only Messenger type client I use is MSN messenger because one of my email accounts is hotmail.

I'd have to go with ICQ, besides having all the features of IM and more that i use, it doesn't feel like it was coded by a bunch of blind druken monkies, I find all of the automated features in IM (auto popup boxes and whatnot) incredibly anoying, I hate typeing in one message box, only to have another pop up right in the middle of a sentence. ICQ also allows you to acually send messages to people who aren't online, which means if you want to drop someone a quick note you don't have to wait until they're online to tell them. ICQ is also incredibly configurable, i can set everything the way i want for quicker use than anything on IM.

*please excuse the rantness of this post, i am tired and this is really late for me*

I'm going to have to go with ICQ on this one. I only really use message/file transfer/chat but it's saving grace is how your uin is a number. That number identifies you. You can assign a name to that number and change it when ever you want. So when you just install it, you don't have to have a name like 'drunknigel264'. You can just have 'DrunkNigel', even if 50 other people have the same nick.

Never liked AIM for some reason. Probably because no one I knew actually used it.

What does everyone think of AOL possibly open sourcing AIM. Do you think anybody would be able to develop other clients or would this just be used to make MSN messenger and other clones compatible with AIM?
