Ok, next week I start Grad school. Got the good GA position (pays tuition, grad fee and stipend). I'm not allowed to have any outside jobs, but the stipend is only ~ for the year, Aug. - Jul. It's the lowest paid on campus, and that's just not enough to live on. The theory is that I'll be making good money once I graduate and that the GA's get the hookup b/c of the networking with the corporate sponsors. That doesn't put bread on the table (or whiskey in the glass).Today was my last day of work, and I signed a service contract w/the company I worked for to do maintenance/further development on their intranet which I designed, created, and implemented. I don't anticipate recieving TOO much money from this (probably 5-10 hrs/month max), but I'm a bit concerned about the program having a MAJOR problem with this. Technically though, the contract was signed before I began employment with the university.
Am I taking an unnecessary risk? Am I wrong for doing the contract thing?
P.S. Don't tell the department.
