If you just want to take the color out of your hair, go to a beauty supply store, and find a product called Super Blue. It's what old ladies use to take the color out of their hair before they put the blue/purple coloring in it. I have very dark brown hair, and it made me a platinum blonde. If you want temporary color, try punky color brand dyes. They last a few weeks. Be warned, the color won't be as dark as it looks in the bottle. As far as colors go, I've had natural, blonde, wine red and green. It was fun for a while, but now I'm in corporate america. They don't seem to car for those things.

if you can afford it, leave it to a pro. I have seen a lot of people who dyed their hair themselves and it went wrong, especially when bleaching it. That's one of the things about bleaching - you must expect that your hair won't have its natural colour even after the bleach is out again. With a lot of people, it leaves their hair darker than before the dyeing thing (a friend of mine used to be blond - he dyed his hair - now it is kinda brownish though the color has been out of it for 2 years). And in any case, bleaching will affect your hair structure, you'll have to care a lot more for it because otherwise it will be totally dry and "breaking" (no idea how you call that).
