Well, as the subject says...and then I go back out on Mon. Figured I'd do this instead of a bunch of thread revivals. 1. Thanksgiving: for once I appreciate German store hours (the only place I've seen stores open past 4pm is in Stuttgart. Maybe its a Bavaria thing). Munched on Wild Boar. Good stuff.
2. Liney- don't join the German army. Your army is so important that we're using them as gate guards at our bases while we go train. I don't know about you but I'd rather not do a rent-a-cop's job. This isn't to say that they don't have cool toys. I'd like to try out their rifles and I've heard that the tanks are pretty good. From what I've been told, the problem is retaining qualified troops and a lack of training. If you'd like to do something militaristic, I'd suggest getting your degree and becoming an officer.
3. On a similar topic, if you want BDUs, go with black or OD (olive drab). They'll match more of your stuff when military clothing becomes less fashionable (and it will). I'd also suggest purchasing from US Cavalry or Ranger Joe's. Anything you buy on the economy is going to last about as long as this trend does.
4. Devin Townsend and Fear Factory tonight in Nurnberg.
5. Someone posted that Korn is thrash. Korn is NOT thrash. The following bands may be called thrash or speed metal.
Anthrax, Slayer (some will say death metal, this is wrong), Metallica (before the sell-out), Megadeth (before the sell-out), Exodus, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies (starting with Controlled by Hatred and ending with Art of Rebellion), Exciter, Annihilator, Anacrusis, Flotsam&Jetsam, Sepultura (although it would be understandable if some called the first couple albums death metal), Dark Angel, Metal Church, Nuclear Assult, S.O.D., M.O.D., C.O.C. (the earlier albums), Armored Saint, Celtic Frost, Overkill, Carnivore...
Please learn your metal subgenres before misapplying labels. Korn is more appropriately called nu-metal or mallcore.
6. This should probably go in the rants area, but I'm here now. These idiots shut down the main intersection of Schlict without providing for an alternate route. Fortunately I'm not concerned about taking the beater onto trails around cornfields. Where's this supposed German efficiency?
Edit- yeah, there are probably more spelling errors.
