basically, OTC woke up one morning and thought to themselves "eh, I think 50 megabits is enough for 30,000 students state wide". basically, it takes 5 minutes to load ANY webpage.

Why don't you get Starband, CK? You're always complaining about bandwidth... you can have your own personal sattelite up/down connection! Do they mind if you mount the dish on top of the dorm building?

Doubt it. My college is pretty strict about 'modifications' to buildings or building equipment. They wouldn't let me put up the equipment for wireless net access right outside my window when I asked last year, I doubt CK's school would let him put a dish on the roof =) Also, satellite net connections have a minimum latency of 400ms or something. Lame.
