I'm soooo sorry about starting another book club meeting, but I'm just about done with my Hitchhiker's Trilogy, and I need something to read at night before I go to bed. I've been reading for about an hour before bed for about a month now, and I like that. What is the ONE book I should read next? I need bedtime reading that has somewhat short chapters so I can put the book down and sleep.

I love you guys... screw you guys...

Zodiac by Neal Stephenson just happens to be sitting next to my computer here. He's a great writer, and the techincal depths Stephenson goes into really appeal to me.

ONE book you say...

I don't know. All of my books come in multiples.

Dirk Pitt with Clive Cussler
Jack Ryan with Tom Clancy
Dune series
Wheel of Time with Robert Jordan...

Don't fall for the wheel of time shit. The guy will die before he finishes it and some twat will think he's got the plot and try to fill in for him.

It's in book 7 and still nowhere near ending. There's only so much one can put up with. You never want books like Lord of the Rings to finish, but this is ridiculous.

Man, I remember reading some pretty good books when I was younger:

Wizard of Earthsea Trilogy
The Dark is Rising Series
Lord of the Flies
Sandman series (comics - book type not the flimsy 10c comic type ...)

Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolken
Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
Actually, anything by Kurt Vonnegut.
And that's all I can think of right now...

hmmm... lots of good books in this world

Chuck Palahniuk is a great author. "Fight Club" and "Invisible Monsters"
Douglas Coupland "Generation X"
Hemingway "A Farewell to Arms"
J.D. Salinger "The Catcher in the Rye"

If it is for reading before going to bed... why don't you try the Kama Sutra?
