Now, don't think I'm a Mac fan (I really really hate them), but OSX is actually pretty kickass.Observer: You used to be able to get a beta of OSX that ran on x86 platforms, but as far as I know, they discontinued it and never had any intention of producing a full copy for non-mac systems.
Personally, I think Apple is shooting itself in the foot again. They didn't succeed in the beginning (and still aren't now imo) because they failed to realize the potential of the clone market like IBM did and they failed to understand that total control over any hardware is not a good idea (something 3dfx found out the hard way). Now, they go ahead and create a great BSD based OS and they do the exact thing again! I think someone needs to beat Steve Jobs over the head with the Obvious Stick.
Oh, btw, from what I hear from my friend, a mac fan (I don't hold it against him...to much ), OSX is VERY cpu intensive and ram intensive. Doesn't this take away the whole point of Mac systems? I mean, the brunt of the users of it are graphics professionals who prefer the speed enhancements over a Windows platform, but if it's really slow, then what's the point?? Maybe Mac will kill themselves for good?? I dunno :|
