Today it occurred that my mom needed something night-table-like to put somewhere downstairs in the house. She came to get that little thingie I have my printer on. GRRRR. But okay, the family gives, the family takes... just, the alternative she offered was too unstable for the printer to not be likely to crash down sooner or later. So, mom and I are looking for some other possibility to solve the problem. Suddenly, she says "why don't we take YOUR night-table!" and starts going towards it, already reaching out her hands saying "I'm sure you could put your stuff elsewhere! What all are you keeping in there?" By the time I grasped the situation fully, she was already halfway around the bed.

Now, the thing is that I have some stuff in my night-table drawers which I keep there for a purpose, this purpose being that they are of no concern to anybody but me, and especially not to my mom! All I could do was jump onto the bed and stammer some hasty "oh, no, I have, like, all my body lotions in there, and, uh, my books and my... well, my knitting stuff... and anyway my socks are in there and all sorts of stuff so I really really need to keep that night-table!" My mom looked a bit puzzled, but thank God didn't open the drawers... we finally took my sister's night-table (no, nothing except old socks in there).

This made me realize that maybe my night-table is not the best place to keep and hide personal stuff. I've come back from a trip recently and found out that my mom had packed some of my things into it (but obviously not realizing what was in there). You guys have any idea where in my room I can safely keep personal belongings? I don't want to go with the classical "panty drawer" thing.

Oh and before you ask: no need for you to know what exactly my "personal belongings" are.

Is your bed on a frame? And if it is can you see under it? Most box springs can have a small hole cut in the undercovering and have "personal" items placed in them. If the items are flat its not too hard to make a false bottom for a drawer. And if worst comes to worst and you have to a computer case works well as long as its not the family computer. I used to keep a 12 pack of corona in mine.

I think we can use our imagination and figure out what was in there. If i were you i'd probly keep them under the bed or in a wooded box with a latch lock on it so you can keep them locked up and keep them out in the open but not have to worry about anyone getting to them.Heh, lucky girl your mom didnt get to them.

we're a bunch of sick fucks, the lot of us.

honestly, I'd buy something that can be secured with a lock and is heavy enough that it cant easily be broken open, a wooden trunk, a lock box or a foot locker all come to mind.

edit: speeling is teh win

Does it matter that much what is in there?

Imagine what would happen if my mom browsed these forums...

Anyway, tell me where to hide stuff!

Best hiding places in a bed room...

Hmmm

Back of a desk drawer. There is always room behind them to stash stuff.

In the box spring is good. Boots in your closet work too.

In plain site is fun if its big enough. Had a friend who made a bong into a lamp. Dont know if what you need to hide is that big...
