this stupid flamewar between the two of you is over. I don't want to see any more childish whining in the forums or hear about any more stupid email battles. you don't have to like each other, but you will shut the fuck up and ignore each other instead. is that understood?
good. a2n3d7y, you are excused.
FW, I have never flamed you in public or private, but there are a few things that need to be said.
regarding the *fap* song - you know damn well that it was fully in line with detnet's traditions and sense of humor. you were embarrassed by the post because it happened to be soon after you told your parents to visit the site.
unfortunately, instead of realizing that you had made a mistake and taking responsibility for it, you chose to heap all the blame on a2n3d7y for posting something that is nothing more than a creative take on a subject we talk about all the time. on the exact same day, had your parents chosen to explore the site, they would have found topics with such embarrassing titles as "anal sex... fun?" (showed up on the main forums screen for most of the day), "AKA, or the many names of the joy of jacking", and "Palms Read? How About Your Ass?" - the last one started by YOU. if they had chosen to explore the bastardizations a little bit, they would've found plenty more things to have a heart attack about.
in case the relevance of all of this is lost on you, let me sum it up in friendly bold letters: detnet is obviously not a place to show to your conservative Christian parents.
any embarrassment you suffered is your own damn fault. i do not appreciate the shit you've given me over this, and I especially do not appreciate you unleashing all your angst on my best friend because you fucked up. you can tell me "well he was an asshole to me" all you want, but quite honestly you deserved it.
i realize you've been trying to be more of a leader, but one of the prime requirements of good leadership is to admit your mistakes rather than trying to place all the blame on someone else.
i had hoped this would drop on its own, but it hasn't. i would have kept this private, except today a2n3d7y pointed out that the front news page features two separate posts by you admiring the same kind of toilet humor that caused you to do all you could to humiliate him. he is quite naturally livid - he put a lot of time into that project, and you chose to hysterically berate the both of us for "toilet humor" - and then you TURN AROUND AND POST THE SAME KIND OF SHIT ON THE FRONT PAGE?
that is fucked.

I went and looked, and my front page is usually SF stuff and lots of pictures.
I don't know what the toilet humor you are referring to, is.
I'm not trying to bring it back up either, if it's there.
Larry Niven and Ben Bova and an astronomer all wrote us this
week and I am very pleased with that.
